New Tonewoods from Hawaii........Albizzia Falcateria

"The guitar starts with the tree"

  • Tropical Rain forests have long been the sources for Warm and Resonant Guitar Woods.

  •
  • Tucker Guitars is at the source of the New tropical Tonewoods.

  •
  • We harvest, cut, and naturally air-dry the woods that we use.
  • Naturally air-dried wood is more stable and reliable than kiln-dried wood.
  • By maintaining control over the quality and stability of the wood components we are able to offer uncompromising quality in our instruments.
Albizzia Falcateria from Hawaii
Molucca Albizzia (Albizzia falcatearia) was brought to the Hawaiian Islands in 1917 and was planted on all the neighbor islands. The tropical climate of Hawaii is ideal for growing Albizzia trees.  Here, the annual rainfall ranges from between 60 and 120 inches.  The average temperature is 74 degrees, which is cooled in many locations by prevailing trade winds.  Albizzia trees are found in inaccessible valleys under the 2500 foot elevations.

Long known to the locals as a strong light-weight wood, albizzia is used for canoes cores, surfboards and paddles. One firm on the big island used albizzia to make ladders. Albizzia trees grown on the Island of Kauai, reach a height of 50 feet, two feet in diameter in 40 to 45 years.  75% of the states supply is located on Kauai
